Meet FashionUnited CEO Lennard Minderhoud

FashionUnited is one of our beloved Intersect Fashion London partners this May. What a good occasion to chat with Lennard Minderhoud, founder and CEO of FashionUnited.

Q: Lennard, for those who don’t know FashionUnited yet, what do you do?

A: FashionUnited is an online B2B platform for the fashion industry, basically a one­stop­shop for fashion professionals. If you are looking for the latest fashion news, industry data or want to find a (new) job in fashion, FashionUnited is your destination. We try to listen to the needs of the industry very carefully to make working in fashion “more fun and efficient”, which is our philosophy.


Q: What motivated you to start FashionUnited?

A: Back in 1998 there was no central website for fashion professionals. I was working as an agent for a sportswear­ and windsurfboard brand and was looking for one platform where experts could find all essential industry information rather than visiting multiple websites for different purposes. FashionUnited was born, uniting news, jobs & business intelligence all at one place.

Q: You are based in the Netherlands, in which other countries do you operate in?

A: Yes, Amsterdam is the place where we started FashionUnited. Almost 20 years later we are active in over 20 countries, on 4 different continents. All our news is produced by a team of professional local editors based in over 12 countries, and our team of international editors located at our Amsterdam headquarter.

Q: Why are you partnering with Intersect Fashion London?

A: We believe it’s a great event with many interesting speakers. Innovation and apparel are at the heart of it, which we have in common. We already partnered last year with Intersect Retail NY and are excited about the opportunity to support the UK event as well.
